In 2018, the Disgusting Food Museum was founded to challenge people's ideas about what is and isn't disgusting, highlighting environmentally sustainable protein sources like insects and lab-grown meat. That same year, the museum opened in Malmö and had a popup in Los Angeles. The following year, a popup in Nantes opened, and in 2021, a permanent exhibit opened in Berlin and a popup in Bordeaux.
